even more different

Greetings and salutations, everyone; yes, once again it is I, Mani the purebred border collie, filling in for the guy I live with, and here to bring you something even more different from the different thing I brought you last time. Really super different. You may remember me from such posts as “How To Avoid Gardening”, among so many, many others.

Here I am in a fairly uncharacteristic pose. I’m in my fort, which isn’t unusual, but I’m more or less soaking wet.I’m wet because it rained here. Not just a whole bunch of drops, but actual rain. The guy I live with couldn’t believe it. But it happened.

It rained so much that he went into the garage, rummaged around a bit, and came back into the kitchen with a couple of old, red ponchos which Flurry and Pooka, two border collies who lived here a long time ago, wore when they went on walks in the rain. As he tried to fit one on me, the guy I live with told me how Pooka would walk very stiff-legged and proud when he walked by other dogs, wearing his poncho in the rain.

The poncho was finally fitted on me, but I didn’t want to have my picture taken wearing it, and fortunately the guy I live with forgot to get a picture of me in the poncho. But it did keep me sort of dry. Walking in the rain turned out to be completely excellent. I still got dried with a towel when I got home.

A short film was made just to prove what happened today. You know, like evidence. We’re not sure why the shed looks so blue, but it does. It’s really more green.

That’s really all I have for today. I’ll leave you with a picture of me drying out in my fort, on my new blanket. I hope you enjoyed the film.

Until next time, then.

the garden at night

Greetings and salutations, everyone; yes, once again it is I, Mani the purebred border collie, filling in for the guy I live with, and here tonight to bring you something completely different. You may remember me from such posts as “My Walk At Dusk”, among so many, many others.

Here I am in a characteristic pose. Those round circles on my left were made by the sun, which made a brief appearance today. When the sun came out, the guy I live with wondered what was going to happen next. Nothing did, except that it got dark again. It rained for a little bit, but not enough to do anything except make a few drops on the ground.

As I guess I’ve said, it’s been mostly dark here, for weeks now, and so maybe to “embrace the darkness”, or whatever, the guy I live with thought that a night-time tour of the garden might be in order. I admit this is kind of odd.

There is a bit of jingling in the film. From no one I know, of course. And also some traffic noise from the highway, which is quite a ways away, but the camera picks up it. And very loud crickets. The guy I live with said the film was best viewed full screen, and in HD, too.

Well, that was different, wasn’t it? I hoped you enjoyed it anyway. The guy I live with said he’d try not to be so totally weird in the future, but I don’t know ….

Until next time, then.
