This is Slipper. Late buddy of Chess, doing his Sad Puppy pose.
Veeewy cyute! They sure know how to get their talons into our hearts.
Yeah. Poor Slipper. I found this looking through the disks, and he seemed so pathetic and sad.
I do have snowdrops showing color, and the weather has been gorgeous, and I’m sowing cactus seed, so it’s semi-spring.
Nope. Just freezing rain to crust over the snow layer.
It’s pretty nice on this side of the Rockies; I hear it’s been abnormally cold on the west side. The weather here is pretty typical for January, though a lot of people are moaning about the lack of snow. I seriously hope they mean in the mountains.
According to NOAA, the high for Fairbanks, Alaska, will be 15 below tomorrow. Is that what they call “cold comfort”?
I have one single snowdrop blooming. Gave it a special watering yesterday. Actually I think I should throw some water on everything, since there is no snow cover.
Really, the only plants that benefit from water at this time of year are those in active growth; ie flowering or developing buds. Most plants are still dormant and have no means of absorbing water.
This is a perfectly normal January for Denver, despite the alarmist stuff on TV. I always used to take a vacation in January because the weather was so nice.
