Greetings and salutations, everyone; yes, once again it is I, Mani the purebred border collie, filling in for the guy I live with, and here today to tell you about my walk in the park. You may remember me from such posts as “Our Winter, Thus Far”, among so many, many others.
Here I am in a characteristic pose.
Today I have a bunch of pictures of me (so you know this post will be excellent) going for a walk in the park not far from here. Actually two walks in the park; one today and one last week.
There were lots of new smells.

This is Bear Creek. It has its source at Summit Lake, near Mount Blue Sky, and eventually flows into the South Platte River.
The creek behind our house flows into Bear Creek, when it has water in it, anyway.

Today the guy I live with’s friend came over and we went to the park again.
It was very cloudy today.
There are a lot of fallen trees in the park. Some look really old. Some aren’t so old and these are willows, like the ones along the creek behind our house. Wet, heavy snow often breaks large branches and sometimes even trunks.
The really big one is a cottonwood.

So those were my two walks in the park.
Happy New Year, everyone.

Until next time, then.
Those do look like very interesting walks, Mani, with lots to sniff and explore. Happy New Year!
Thanks, same to you.
This park was really, really interesting.
Best wishes for a pawsome 2026, Mani.
Thankk; same to you.
I slept from about 4:30 in the afternoon until this morning, except for a break at Tinkle Time.
Happy New Year!
Thanks, same to you.
Happy New Year. Let’s hope it’s a better one. All your snow is already gone. Thank you for the adventure through the park.
Thanks, same to you. There are still tiny patches of snow here and there.
What’s weird is we haven’t had much snow at all, so far. Ordinarily it might have snowed here ten times by the end of the year, but it would all melt or evaporate, so winter here does look like this.
Ferst let us meow HAPPY NEW YEER to you Mani an Guy! All THE best fore 2026. Now to yore post! You look lovelee purr usual Mani. There iss NO snow! Wee have 3 feet of it…a white landscape efurrywhere… Wuud you liek sum? THE treess are amazin’. Furry diffyrent from ourss. Wee are sad sum of those mitey treess have come down. Thanks; same to you. We wouldn’t mind some snow because we have “fire weather” warnings again tomorrow.
It’s common for us not to have snow on the ground around the holidays; in fact it’s more common than having snow, but it’s really warm here.
The trees are willows and they will grow back quickly.
EEKKK!! Wee reememburr Fire Weather from last few yeerss wee been followin youss Mani an Guy. Pleese bee safe. Wee happy THE treess will grow back. Willowss are lovelee treess π
This is the fourth or fifth time in a month, or less. Very tiresome.
Yes, the willows grow back fairly quickly. The blurry part of those pictures, in the right hand corner, is new growth on a young willow.
YIKESS!! Mani wee hope THE Fire warningss stop. It soundss scarey two! Xcellent abut THE Willowss…they are lovelee treess!
The guy I live with said they canceled that for us, but not in the mountains. I think nothing bad happened.
