This is Pterourus rutulus, the Western Tiger Swallowtail.

a really dumb plant

I have a bunch of Cape Hyacinths, Galtonia candicans. Botanists are now calling it Ornithogalum candicans, which could be part of the problem.

Some grow upright, some don’t. Some decide to grow sideways, then realize their mistake, and try to correct it.

This is about the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.
